Credit Union of British Columbia:

Client Profile:  A credit union with 128 branch locations and over 6,000 employees within the province of B.C.

Client Needs: Due to rising health-care costs, the credit union decided to implement a wellness program for all 6,000 employees. But the cost of deploying a traditional in-house wellness program was prohibitive due to the company's multiple locations. Smart Web Tools designed a Web-deployed employee wellness program featuring 17 interactive health tools, such as teleconference workshops, emailing questions to an expert, multimedia interactive workshops, micro video lectures, a health-records database, health-risk assessments and a calorie/nutrition counter.

Smart Web Solutions: The Web-deployed program reaches 128 branches, with interactive online education programs to improve employee health and reduce health-care costs. For a full case history, read more...

Pro-Tech Seal Manufacturing Inc.:

Client Profile: Pro-Tech Seal Manufacturing, is one of Canada's largest suppliers of rust-protection coating and anti-theft marking insurance. More than 400 dealers across Canada run their programs. Pro-Tech Seal products were first introduced to the automobile dealer network in 1986.

Client Needs: A customized integrated software solution that would automate their business processes. With more than 4,000 annual contracts faxed and mailed into Pro-Tech Seal's office, it was taking three full-time data entry operators to enter this information into their Windows-based Java application. Given the amount of time this took and the high margin of errors that were occurring, they needed to reduce paper forms with an online contract submitted securely from their website into their database.

Smart Web Solutions:
  • Built a Web-based application for dealers to enter contract information online and integrated the current Java application's databases into the new Web-based system.
  • Developed an adjoining application from Access to Java and integrated this new application into the Web-based application for the contracts.
  • Conducted a network audit to review all software and hardware and made recommendations based on Pro-Tech's business needs.
  • Purchased and implemented a Windows 2003 server with off-site backups and corporate anti-virus solutions, upgraded all PCs and migrated AccPac for DOS from a Linux operating system to Windows.

CSN Wine and Spirits:

Client Profile: A distinguished high-end wine retailer from Calgary, Alberta, that offers more than 500 different wines from all over the world. This retailer has a distinct brand, with strong customer relationships. In addition to retail sales, clients receive added value through educational programs provided by in-house wine experts.

Client Needs: A Web-based presence equal to the distinct image they had created within their retail store. The website would need three components: enabling viewers to shop; allowing them to view all wines and spec sheets; and providing a multimedia educational section on wine tasting. • Built an eCommerce solution using X-Cart, connected to the payment gateway (PayPal).
  • Built a database that can be customized by the client and is expandable for new wine products.

Client Needs: Due to the product's depth of content, initial sales presentations were averaging an hour, allowing only three to four presentations to be made per sales cycle. The client wanted to automate part of the sales process.

Smart Web Solutions: Developed a passcode-entry Web launch pad accessible to all sales personnel. The launch pad provided sales tools to increase sales efficiency and impact. One of the sales tools was a multimedia presentation that toured prospects through the site and reduced the presentation time from 20 minutes to seven. Additionally, the multimedia tour was formatted so that it could be emailed to prospects.

Pacific Coast Accommodations:

Client Profile: A high-end rental agency that specializes in offering executive housing to traveling executives for short or long-term stays in Canada.

Client Needs: Whenever prospects inquired about a rental property, the company spent considerable time phoning and emailing them photos. The client wanted to reduce the manual flow of information via faxing, emailing and incoming phone calls by having a centralized database of all their properties that could be accessed through their website. They also wanted to create individual passcodes for each property so prospects could view only the properties they were trying to sell them.

Smart Web Solution:
  • Created a backend administration panel to allow the upload of pictures and all property particulars, including size, furnishings, rent, parking, etc.
  • Enabled prospective customers to view all property pictures and details of the property via the homepage of the website.
  • Enabled the client to create their own passcode for each property.
